Leyte: Binagol

Binagol - This is a visayan delicacy. Sweetened shredded gabi tuber with coconut and condensed milk then cooked in coconut shells and wrapped in banana leaves.
My colleague brought this home for us from his R&R. We had one each.

Zamboanga: Shrimps and Crabs in Alavar sauce

2nd Lunch after the Civac this morning.
#crabs #shrimp #alavar

Zamboanga: Wichcraft by La Tienda

It's been months since I last visited this place so I invited my boss and two fellows for some sandwiches and coffee. The crabwich that I loved was out of stock so I ended up ordering these instead:

Prune cake - It was the winner for the night. The cake was moist and it was not too sweet.

Salted Caramel Frappe - ho hum... Can't taste the "salt". I should have stuck with the juice.

Grilled chicken wrap - The bread wrap was somewhat stale. The chicken had an unusual taste.  I'm not going for this again.

Zamboanga: Tamal

Tamal

The Zamboanga version of the tamales. It uses ground rice and coconut milk and is wrapped in banana leaves. For the stuffing, it is stuffed with glass noodles (vermicelli) cooked with camaron rebosado (i.e., with sautéed shrimp and seasonings, plus a hint of chili).

Bought this from the OJT for 10Php.

Zamboanga: Chicken Pianggang

Late lunch. The boss saved some ”chicken pianggang” exclusively for me. =P
Chicken Pianggang - According to the Boss, pianggang is a Tausug viand. It’s very spicy chicken soup.
Warning: It’s not for the feint of heart.

The usual office afternoon snack

Coke + putok bread + coco pandesal

Zambaonga: Paseo - Knicker bocker and Isaw

Knicker bocker - A Zamboanga favorite. Before I  went home, I had my friends bring me to Paseo . Nothin like a good ole dessert to top the night. <3 br="br">
Isaw - Chicken intestines. My friend had this. Not really something I'd readily eat. I'm happy with my knicker bocker. =P

Zamboanga: Early Bird's

Early bird is famous for their shawarma. We usually have it delivered at the hospital. It's my first time to go to the actual shop and imagine my surprise when they had one of the best tasting smoothies I've tried in the city! Seriously.

Mango shake

Banana shake with choco chips on top

Zambaonga's version of shawarma comes with potato wedges. =P

Chocola's Cispy Mint

I am addicted to mint choco. Period.

Review:
Bought for the sake of trying. Will not buy again.

Baguio: Cafe by the Ruins

This is one of my fave foodie places. I often bring my visitors here whenever I want to showcase my hometown. I think a part of the history of Baguio is embedded in the resto thus I also consider it as a landmark.

Agua Fresca de Jamaica <3 b="b" nbsp="nbsp"> used to combat high blood pressure and  reduce cholesterol levels  and rich in Vitamin C
Pandan Lemon Grass Iced Tea

Mango Fruit float - scoop of fruit sorbet floated on carbonated water

Zamboanga: La Tienda Cafe - Hang-out place

I've been a fan of their juice concoctions. This time I got a Pink Lemonade.

Cassava cheesecake - Never tasted anything like it. But it was good. =)

Lasagna - was a bit ho hum. Lacked flavor and cheese.

Ham and egg on English muffin - meh. A bit too simple and too bland for my taste.

Crabwhich FTW! - Now this is the real winner. Imagine, real crabs - shells removed, dipped in thin batter and fried to a crisp. They managed to keep the white meat soft and succulent. That on top of greens and tomatoes (I removed the onions =P) over a warm croissant bun. <3 <3 <3

Strawberries and Cream Frappe - I asked the store guy if they used real strawberries, he said yes.  Now look at it, just from the looks, one would know that they did not use any real strawberries in it.
To store guy: Seriously, I'm from Baguio and I would know. Next time, don't tell a lie.

Fudge Brownie - Thou shall not buy this brownie again.

Zamboanga: Garden Orchid Hotel

Hot coffee

Brazo de Mercedes

Iced Choco Mint Frappe
I am disappointed with the service, the ambiance, the presentation, the taste and the price.
This will not happen again.

Ukokkei Ramen Ron

I've been meaning to use the Spot.ph Top Ten book that my Aunt gave me and here is where it led us...

Best ramen house in the city. (Accdg to spot.ph)

We ordered the "best" ramen.
Tan tan men  - They only make 10 bowls of this a day. We were lucky we arrived  early (5:45pm) else, we wouldn't have tasted this exquisite find. =)
My Aunt and I shared one order so we could taste other ramens as well. Notice the green onions on the side? That's my making. =P I asked them to separate the onions so I could eat with gusto.
According to the guide book, Tan tan men is to be eaten paired with the Japanese egg below.
And I must say, Tan tan men + Japanese egg = Ramen Heaven =))
Prawn salad - I also loved this!

I forgot the name of this ramen... Yes, it was forgettable. I suggest you stick with the Tan tan men. =P
