Ma Maison

Aloe Vera Apple and Green Tea Citrus
I personally like the green tea citrus. It washes down the taste of creaminess and porkyness of the meal. The aloe vera apple had aloe vera bits in it and I found the liquid too sweet for my taste.

Chasoba salad - Cold green tea soba, ham, egg, tomatoes with cucumber in  Japanese mayonnaise and sesame dressing.
This is one of the highlights of the meal. I felt that it's already a meal all by itself.

Hors D'oeuvre - Camembert cheese fritters - Deep fried beer battered camembert cheese slices with honey vinaigrette.
I was quite excited to order this with mozarella goodness expectations but what I got was soft cheese covered with a light crispy butter that gets soggy when dipped in too much honey vinaigrette. It was a good thing my Aunt told me to just add a little of the sauce to still get a taste of the light crispness of the batter.

Ma Maison's House Specialty Tonkatsu - Wafu-style pork cutlet covered with Nama  Panko, fresh. crispy  Japanese bread crumbs. Perfectly matches with Ma Maison's homemade Tonkatsu sauce.
Honestly, I found this to be a good tonkatsu but according to my Aunt, she tasted better.

Omu-rice in Mushroom cream sauce - Ketchup rice wrapped in omelette and served with rich mushroom cream sauce.
I'm quite disappointed with this since I was expecting to get red ketchup rice under the rich mushroom cream sauce. All I got was plain white rice. =(

Frozen Green Tea Brazo de Mercedez - Four layered frozen dessert with with egg meringue, green tea ice cream, custard cream and graham crust.
This is another highlight. I love it whole-heartedly! =P

And then came the bill... my smile turned from =) to =( since it was my turn to pay. I must remember to choose my restaurants wisely next time. =P

Kenji Tei Ramen House

Despite having limited time, I was still able to set some food trips while I was in Manila. I was craving for Japanese and so my Aunt suggested this new "authentic" Japanese place at Greenbelt.

"Authentic" - During our entire dinner, we were the only Filipinos dining there. Most of the other customers were Japanese nationals.

Salmon sashimi
Cheese gyoza - Fried gyoza with a cream cheese center and cream cheese dip. It's a good alternative to the usual gyoza if you want something different.

Crispy chicken teriyaki - Grilled crispy chicken teriyaki glazed in teriyaki sauce. I liked this. It's not as sweet as it looks. It had just the right amount of flavor and the chicken was tender.

Chashu Miso Ramen - Miso based ramen served with an array of toppings. We asked the waiter to separate the leeks on the side as I don't eat onions.
We were supposed to get the Negi Itame Ramen but I learned that "negi" - translates to onion leeks so we stayed away from that.

Beef curry rice - Home-made curry topped on rice. I didn't like this much. Never imagined a Japanese curry food. But my Aunt liked it. The sauce was rich and the beef was tender.
Iced Tea

HAPPY EATS! =D
One of the things that made me sad is that their table napkin didn't have the resto's logo. =(
Oh and their dessert selection ain't that great either. I was hoping for a wasabi ice cream but they didn't have that. Fail.

Gelatone EAYC

One rainy afternoon, my aunt FINALLY agreed to treat me to Gelatone's Eat-all-you-can-Gelato!

it was dry and comfy inside

AWESOME! Too bad I wasn't able to send them the photo of my cousin and me for the contest...

Gelato Fridge outside... yummyness!!!

Round 1: Hazelnut
Round 2: Four Kinds of Sorbet

  • Mango - I really like mangoes so I liked this. It was the first one I finished.
  • Lime - I already tasted this before and I liked it. It's refreshing and a good palate cleanser. I really like the small bits of whatever in it. =)
  • The Pink-colored sorbet (Turns out it was watermelon) - At first I thought it was strawberry but when I tasted it, it was nowhere near the taste of berry. I really didn't like it and I was wondering how I'll be able to finish it coz it tasted like medicine. So I left it alone and transferred to the next flava...
  • Lemone - Super sour! I was literally cringing in sourness... It was a good thing I still had some watermelon (which was sweet) thus, I ate them together and was able to finish my serving. =)

Round 3: NO PICTURE - Coz I was too excited to eat my third round of flavors.

I got Mascarpone, Cheesecake and Tiramisu - ALL HEAVENLY!!! =) =) =)

The EAYC was only till 5pm and I wasn't sure if I could still finish another cup... Alas! I should've gone back and gotten four more scoops to make a dozen. =P

So anyway... I truly enjoyed my EAYC Gelato experience and I hope I could have a take at it again... Next time, I hope my fave flava is around coz I could finish a whole gallon of it. =P

Qoola

Location: @ Greenbelt, Makati

This is the store front.

This is something I saw upstairs.

The big poster light at the first-half landing of the stairs.

One of the posters upstairs.

Cozy ambiance and cozy chairs.

This is still upstairs. At the dining area. That's a flat screen tv to keep you entertained. And they have service water with plastic cups in case you need a drink.
BTW, free WIFI here.

Sorta -menu. Downstairs.

Yogurt dispenser. There are store people to assist you if in case you don't know what you're doing like me and my cousin. So the first thin you gotta do is get a white cup. The one in the middle. Choose a flavor. Pull the lever.

Slushie something + fruit toppings

This is mine. I had green tea froyo as base. Then original on top.
Added yellow mango + kiwi + mochi.

Verdict: I like the smoothness of the froyo. Like WH smooth. I also like the taste of the original and the green tea flavored froyo. I love mochi. I usually love yellow mangoes but their yellow mango was sour. It didn't contradict my original froyo so all I had was sourness all over. Even the kiwi added to the sourness. So next time, i have to make sure that the mango is ripe before getting some.

Cousin A's. white chocolate macadamia as base + wild berry froyo +
cashew + chocochips + yogurt chips (the white ones)

Verdict: We tasted each others order... we both agreed that the berry was good and that the white choco macadamia didn't taste so well. It was too macadamia-ish. Tasted like a tree. It would've been better if more white choco was put into in.

Sad... They didn't have table napkins...
